About Erie, Colorado
Erie straddles the Boulder-Weld County line about eight miles east of Boulder, and is a vibrant community comprised of friendly residential neighborhoods.
One of the most popular areas in Erie is its Historic Downtown Business District. Downtown Erie is home to an eclectic selection of businesses and eateries, and hosts some of the most colorful annual events, including the Erie Town Fair, the High School Homecoming Parade, the Eerie Erie 10k Halloween race, Biscuit Day, and Oktoberfest. Downtown, like much of Erie, retains a comfortable small-town atmosphere that says "welcome."
The community of Erie was settled around 1867 by the Rev. Richard Van Galesburg, who was a Methodist pastor. He named the community after his hometown of Erie, Pennsylvania, and in the year 1874, the town of Erie was incorporated.
The Northwest Parkway and E-470 are located just two miles from Erie, and has cut travel time to Denver International Airport (DIA) down to thirty-five minutes. The development of this important corridor has made life a lot easier for residents and visitors alike. The Erie Municipal Airport provides a full range of services for corporate and general aircraft.
