Nederland Real Estate

Boulder Colorado waterfallThe largest mountain town in Boulder County, the Nederland real estate market offers homeowners the contrast of rustic mountain life with the more city-like atmosphere of neighboring Boulder. Approximately 1400 people call Nederland home today, and because this is a town comprised of true individuals, there is no shortage of lively political interaction in the community.

With the city of Boulder located just 17 miles away—3000 feet down the canyon, the Nederland real estate market is poised for growth.

Taking advantage of its mountain crossroads location, the town of Nederland has built a vibrant new tourist information center, and owners of the nearby Eldora Ski Area have expanded their snowmaking capabilities and upgraded their facilities. These changes are giving Nederland a powerful economic shot in the arm, and enticing buyers to consider purchasing property in Nederland.

History of Nederland, Colorado

Nederland was named by a Dutch mining community, and means "The Netherlands," or "low lands". The town was born as a settlement for gold, silver, and later, tungsten miners. The promise of riches from the town's mines drew thousands of people to build homes in Nederland in the late 1800s. In 1874, Nederland was incorporated and had more than 3,500 residents at its peak.
