Demonstrating once again that it is home to some of the most environmentally conscious and fit people, Boulder ranks No. 2 for U.S. cities with the most people who commute to and from work via bike.
According to U.S. Census Bureau, 12.1 percent of Boulder residents commute to work by bike.
Bloomberg recently released a map of the top 25 bike-to-work communities, based on U.S. Census Bureau’s statistics. Davis, Calif., was ranked No. 1 with 19.1 percent of its population commuting by bike, and Fort Collins ranked 12th with a 7.9 percent bike-commuting rate.
Here’s a look at the list – dominated by Western U.S. cities, most of which are in California – of the top 10 cities for commuting by bike:
