Ten years ago, the City of Boulder of and the Division of Housing created the Affordable Home’s program dedicated “to make sure some homes in Boulder will always be affordable to those with low to moderate incomes.” RE/MAX of Boulder Agent Angela McCormick has been on the Board of the program for the past five years and is strong advocate for providing affordable housing in Boulder. Angela explains that the program was created to provide professional real estate representation regardless of income or economic status. To supplement the inventory of affordable of homes available, the Division of Housing has created the “HomeWorks” initiative which requires that some affordable home are built by developers as a requirement of the Inclusionary Housing Ordinance. Homes are sold at or below the market-rate prices to income-eligible buyers. The homes are considered permanently affordable and governed by an Affordability Covenant. Angela believes the mission of the Affordable Homes Program is to encourage housing for a diverse economic spectrum which provides economic and social benefits to the city; but most importantly creates a quality of life for those less fortunate.
