After a tough road loss to a sub-par Utah team last weekend, despite a gutty effort, the Colorado Buffaloes have nine regular season games to stay in the mix for an NCAA tournament bid. The nine game season starts tonight when the Buffs travel to Eugene to take on the #19 Oregon Ducks. This would be a giant step down the winning path the Buffs need to ride along till season’s end. Three of the Buffs' next nine games come against the only two Pac-12 teams currently in the Top 25. The #7 Arizona Wildcats, who were given a win against CU earlier this season when the refs called off a clearly intime banked three point buzzerbeater by Sab Chen; and an away and home series versus the #19 Ducks. That said, the Buffs need every win they can muster with the remaining schedule regardless of opponent. Twenty or more regular season wins plus a deep run in the Pac-12 tournament should solidify a spot in the big dance for the Buffs. But as we have seen in the past, you're not in till you're in. The Buffs were able to put together an almost miracle run last year to win the inaugural Pac-12 tournament and parlayed that into a first round upset over UNLV. Particularly in college hoops, it's not how you start but how you finish. A strong push at season's end could have the Buffs dances again.
