When two pillars of the community unite for the greater good, it is a powerful partnership that magnifies their impact. In this case, the five-year-long partnership between RE/MAX of Boulder, the top-performing real estate company in Boulder Valley and top-ranked RE/MAX office nationally, and CU Athletics, a premier athletics department and dynamic resource with local, regional, and nationwide influence – is bringing the community together and building for the future.
RE/MAX of Boulder is celebrating its 40th year as a trusted community expert. The office was voted Best Real Estate Group in Boulder Weekly’s Best of Boulder. RE/MAX of Boulder’s 100-plus Realtors, who average 14 years of experience, can claim status as local community experts: they live, work and raise their kids in Boulder Valley. And they are committed to charitable service and leadership of local nonprofits.
Community involvement – giving back and making a difference – is a companywide core value. The management and the Realtors at RE/MAX of Boulder are proud of their long-established legacy of community outreach. They support many nonprofits and charitable causes through volunteering, serving on boards, donating, and publicizing important causes – striving to make Boulder the best home possible.

Similarly, the CU Athletics department is dedicated to making a positive impact through its drive for excellence on every front – from the magnificent $156 million expansion and renovations to its facilities, to recruiting top talent and offering a world-class, holistic student-athlete experience. They also emphasize community outreach and programming in the areas of Youth Outreach & Education, Environmental Responsibility, and Health & Wellness carried out by enthusiastic current and former student-athletes, coaches, spirit squads, athletic department staff and partners.
In this common spirit and passion for helping others, RE/MAX of Boulder is designated the Official Realtors of CU Athletics.
The RE/MAX of Boulder management team, including Broker/Owner Jay Kalinski, Managing Broker Todd Gullette, Owner/Founder Tom Kalinski, and Broker Associate DB Wilson, are all CU alumni as are nearly half of RE/MAX of Boulder Realtors -- and they are huge fans of CU Athletics.

Jay Kalinski says, “As the Official Realtors of CU Athletics, we are committed to supporting the amazing accomplishments of Athletic Director Rick George, his management team, and outstanding coaches and student-athletes. They have achieved the vision of a spectacular transformation of the CU Athletic facilities into a world-class, state-of-the-art athletic complex to attract superb athletes; provide cutting-edge training and advance the sports programs; serve the community; and elevate the University, our city, and our region. They are ensuring excellence at every level now and into the future.”
CU Athletic Director Rick George returns the compliment. “We’re proud to be partners with RE/MAX of Boulder because it is a leader in the community and truly cares about giving back,” he says. “Together we want to build the excellence of our student-athletes and athletic programs, showcase CU Boulder, and make a meaningful and positive lasting impact on our local businesses and the greater Boulder Valley community.”
Joining forces to give back includes a yearly client event sponsored by RE/MAX of Boulder and held at a CU Men’s Basketball game in which they choose a local nonprofit to support. RE/MAX of Boulder is also supporting the lasting community impact that centers around the newly renovated and expanded CU Athletics sports facilities that include the addition of 337,000 sq. ft. of space to Folsom Field, state-of-the-art Champions Center, Indoor Practice Facility, and outdoor grass field as well as 38,000 sq. ft. of renovations.
Associate Athletic Director of CU Athletics Lance Carl says that the renovated and upgraded athletic facilities have been “…a great home to us. It’s been a boon to our recruiting, a boon to our student athletes, and a boon to the community as a whole.”
The stunning facility upgrades bring the community together around the excitement of sports events, event spaces for weddings and celebrations for the public, opportunities for local businesses, and the cutting-edge Sports Medicine and Performance Center, which is open to the public.
Associate Athletic Director and Chief Marketing Officer for CU Athletics Matt Biggers adds, “We’re extremely appreciative of RE/MAX of Boulder. We cannot provide a holistic student experience for our student-athletes without the support of fans, donors, and sponsors – especially a pillar of our local community like RE/MAX of Boulder. It just means so much, we can’t say thank you enough.”
Other RE/MAX of Boulder Realtors are very active in supporting CU Athletics.
RE/MAX of Boulder Realtor Dale Pearson is a three-time All-American and member of four National Championship Teams while at CU. CU Skiing won 20 National Championships including eight National Titles in a row from 1972-1979. He was fortunate to be a part of four of those teams in the eight-year run of titles.
Head Coach of the ski team Richard Rokos says of Pearson, “RE/MAX of Boulder and the CU Ski Team have the same common denominator: hard workers with noble goals. Sometimes these goals are accomplished by the same individual. In this case, Former Ski Team Buff and National Champion Dale Pearson has returned to Ski Team to champion another ‘team’ accomplishment. As a Co-Chair of the Ski Ball Committee for the past three years, Dale has been instrumental in the unprecedented success of the 2017 Ski Ball – the biggest black-tie fundraiser in Boulder, which raised close to $80,000 this year!”
RE/MAX of Boulder Broker Associate Donna Voss is Past President of the Buffalo Belles, an organization dedicated to raising funds for student athletes, says, “The Buffalo Belles and Friends organization wrapped up their 2017 luncheon season on November 15th with our special guest Head Coach Mike MacIntyre. We meet in the fall during football season for lunch every Wednesday and feature two coaches and their available players. It’s a group of people of all ages who are passionate about all of the athletic programs at CU.”
RE/MAX of Boulder Realtors are also serving CU-Boulder in other capacities.
DB Wilson, RE/MAX of Boulder statistician and broker associate, serves on the University of Colorado Alumni Board of Advisors. Wilson says the Alumni Board provides vision and guidance in the development of innovative programming to help Forever Buffs connect with the university and with each other. Born a Buff – and now a Forever Buff – Wilson, his parents and their parents all attended CU Boulder. This family lineage goes back to his great grandfather whose construction company built Macky Auditorium 100 years ago.

RE/MAX of Boulder Broker Associate Mary Huffman is Past President and a volunteer at University Women’s Club, a passionate group of 350 volunteers who fundraise for scholarships for nontraditional CU-Boulder students. Huffman says, "When my son began taking classes at CU-Boulder, I joined the University Women's Club. I loved their lecture luncheon series that consists of five lectures per year. The club promotes raising money for scholarships of non-traditional students -- and friendship. I was so impressed with this group of women I joined the executive board and served for 10 years, including one year as President."
RE/MAX of Boulder Realtor and Author Duane Duggan is a graduate of the CU Real Estate Program and is active in helping real estate students with internships. His family has a long history with CU-Boulder, boasting three generations of alumni including six graduates, the first of whom graduated in 1952. Duane Duggan’s son and RE/MAX of Boulder Realtor Timmy Duggan was the seventh family member to attend CU, where he studied for two years before becoming a pro cyclist and USA Olympic Team cyclist.
Duane Duggan spoke with Lance Carl and Matt Biggers from CU Athletics in a video podcast, which can be found on RE/MAX of Boulder’s YouTube page at http://bit.ly/29NUJpB.
In addition to CU Athletics, the three top nonprofits that RE/MAX of Boulder is dedicated to are Children's Miracle Network Hospitals/Children's Hospital Colorado, There With Care, and I Have A Dream Foundation of Boulder Valley. And every summer they sponsor Bands on the Bricks in Downtown Boulder.
