If you ever find yourself on Pearl Street not knowing what restaurant to eat at I would suggest going to the West End Tavern! There is great food, drinks, and a wonderful atmosphere to tend to everyone’s needs!
The West End Tavern got started 26 years ago by Minnie and Beaver, the tavern’s original owners. When it first got started, the West End Tavern was more of a bar scene. Now, it has transformed into more of a restaurant atmosphere while keeping the popular bar features.
Erin Peacock, the current general manager, gave me some insight on West End Tavern’s most popular items on the menu. The smoked and BBQ items are their most popular. I would have to agree with Erin considering the burger I had was delicious! All of their beef is local and fresh. During the spring, West End Tavern brings their smoker to the farmer’s market so that everyone can get a taste of their freshly smoked items.
The West End Tavern’s wings are also a famous item. Their Wing King Challenge was featured on the Travel Channel’s Man v. Food. Erin mentioned that she can always tell when reruns of the episode have been playing because many people come in to take on the challenge!
I’ve know the West End Tavern to be a very popular restaurant so I asked Erin what she thinks brings her customers back. She emphasized and took pride in their great hospitality. Erin said any restaurant can have great food and automated servers, but it’s all about the experience and having a great staff!
Of course I had to ask Erin what her favorite item on the menu was and she said the fried chicken and waffles was definitely her first favorite. Erin, as well as the customers, loves the unique combination.
Don’t forget to stop by the West End Tavern if you’re ever in town! Have a drink or grab some food while hanging out on the rooftop or inside this great restaurant!
